(25,611 posts)this past season. I will read your link and see why. I read somewhere that none of the scenes in the show were shot outside of Scotland. They used different venues that looked like the gardens in France and the Carolina backwoods were also shot in Scotland. I was surprised by this. as they had me fooled. Jamie is a WOW.

(5,693 posts)a heartbreak for me because she LOVED being part Scottish, and she had red hair, and after she died I found info she had photocopied about the Battle Of Culloden! Also, exactly a year after she died, her first great grandson was born, and he is the only child, grand child or great grandchild who has her red hair. 🥲 sigh.

(25,611 posts)WOW, especially the younger Jamie in his kilt. The series is true to the books. . Sorry about your mom.

Hope you enjoy and more videos are to come!
Even the kids know high-class stuff when they hear it.

(1,970 posts)For decades nearly every high school and college pep band played this at every football and basketball game. Maybe they still do.

(22,060 posts)The song is as written for the original film and its titled, Suicide Is Painless. Its very sad and dark which is why the TV show played it as an instrumental.
Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see
That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it
If I please
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say
Suicide is painless (suicide)
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it
If I please
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger, watch it grin
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it
If I please
A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
"Is it to be or not to be?"
And I replied, "Oh, why ask me?"
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it
If I please
And you can do the same thing
If you please

(5,751 posts)I felt it was a perfect song to reflect those times. Reality bites.
PJMcK
(22,060 posts)Youre right about reality.
When the TV show began, it was written as a slap-stick comedy. It wasnt until a few years later when the show got more serious that it returned to its sources style and perspective.
Its a great song by Johnny Mandel & Michael Altman.

(22,282 posts)another favorite from British comedy: "Waiting For God". It is a movement from "The Trout" by Schubert.
I think Wings theme was also written by Schubert.
I would have included Hill Street Blues and t The opening note to Twin Peaks but somebody already did.
By the way several of the other posts only show a gray box with a frown, so I do not know the show music.
