4. I'm embarrassed. I posted this without reading the whole thing, thinking the victim was just....

......another gun who was stupid enough to have a loaded gun in his vehicle. I can see now that another reaction should have been that it's sad that someone who people liked and was a good person, made such a mistake and now is gone. So, like I said, I'm embarrassed. Will try to do better. XanaDUer, you got it right.

6. The man put a loaded and cocked gun, probably with the safety off, in the

back seat, with a dog. (I doubt the dog could have manipulated the safety...) This is like driving down the interstate, wide open, with blinders on. The blessing here is that it didn't kill some innocent bystander. As it is, he just earned a shot at the Darwin Awards. (pardon the pun)

But I can still see it happening without any difficulty with a large dog blundering about in a vehicle's back seat

It was the driver's gun, dog, and pickup truck. The passenger was killed.
