The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe price for a bottle of Lagavulin finally came down.
Bought a bottle of 16 year-old and just cracked it. The peaty, campfire smell is Heavenly.
Laphroiag, I love you, you smoky bastard. And youre reasonably priced. But Lagavulin has got you beat!

Cheers, everybody!

(131,100 posts)I don't care for hard liquor, rarely even drink wine, Dad's drink was Canadian, but it all interests me.
Aristus
(66,462 posts)Definitely worth acquiring, if you ask me. But I get that theyre not for everyone.

(90,789 posts)Pretty sure I spent under $70. Saved it to see if my sister would bother travelling the thousands of miles to stay with me, finally decided to open it for myself a couple of months ago.
Aristus, my friend, that is exceptionally tasty. The smoke is subtle the aroma reminded me of Lapsang Souchong tea.

(65,168 posts)Too peaty for me. I'm a Highland fan.
But, I'm happy for you!
I once had 3/4ths of a shot of 30 year aged Glemorangie. The reason why the 3/4ths is important is it was the last of the bottle. I got it free. Would have been $32. This was in that late 90s!
Unbelievably smooth. It felt like I was drinking velvet!

An 18 year Glenlivet is my floor.
One exception. There used to be a tequila called 3 brothers. 20 years ago it was under $20 a bottle and was the best sipping tequila I've ever tried.
