I don't think it's that much, 1-2 packs of pearls and the base. It lasts up to 6 months.

If you have your own sprayer it could be several hundred dollars, depending on the type effect you want.
You can peel it off anytime and it doesn't hurt the original paint.

I think there would be a danger of distracting other people around me. Maybe on a boat or even a bicycle. Or on non-moving objects like poolside patio furniture.
Looks really good, though. They already have vinyl wraps that look similar.
