We did get a spitting of rain, over the weekend, but was nothing measurable and ours is the only one that isn’t coming back.

In Phx we overseed perennial rye in the winter because the Bermuda goes dormant, but it dies in the summer for lack of water even though it's technically a perennial. There are a few places like resorts who keep the rye going all year long, but it requires daily watering and some shade. Some grasses that go dormant only do it for a couple weeks, after that they die like rye does. Bermuda is virtually indestructible, it can go for years without water and is extremely hard to get rid of because of that.

when the service comes they’re only mowing some parts as some of the lawn is ok, ya know the shaded parts. It takes them about 10 minutes compared to 30/45 minutes when mowing the whole lawn.

unless there's a protracted drought. My yard remained green because I have no grass, just native plants, which tend to be drought-resistant because they have very deep roots. Grass has shallow roots, which is why it doesn't do as well.

And I don’t mean to be overly-nasty about your neighbors, but really, you’re showing you give a damn, while the greenies are flaunting their ignorance/foolishness about the state of our planet —

Enough with the lawns, America. If you have little kids, sure, but after that plant some prairie grass and call it a day.

but it doesn't give anything back. It has no flowers for pollinators; there's not enough of it on a lawn to feed rabbits or other herbivores; it just sits there and tries to suck up water with its shallow roots so it doesn't turn brown and look terrible. If you want a green lawn that's actually useful, plant clover or creeping thyme, or just let the creeping charlie grow. At least it's green and has flowers.
