He supposedly took a tranquilizer at the Who concert at the San Francisco Cow Palace and nearly passed out, fighting with Pete Townsend before being carried from the stage. A call went out to the audience for someone who could play the drums. A guy named Scot Halpin came up. It must have been the thrill of his life.

Tom Shiffur, the drummer of the 60s group Shadows of Knight was a Moon imitator. You can hear it in his chops.

yes, lots of people tried to copy him. no doubt about it. he had a way with the drums.

maybe his personality was a bit much to take, though
