What Can You Say and Not Say Here?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Yonnie3 (a host of the The DU Lounge forum).

It's been a while. I think the last time I did any serious posting was during the Bernie Sanders campaign, being a big fan of his. I remember a distinct feeling of disgust and my posts kept getting convicted. I'm wondering, does one still have to go along with the NeoLiberal Third Way Democrats here? You know, you can only repeat MSNBC or CNN and not explore issues or ideas outside of these channels that might also be considered the left.

Are we allowed to talk about peace, reducing the military budget, staying out of Ukraine, or providing fewer weapons to Israel and asking them to stop the bombing? How much is enough?

Can we discuss raising wages, healthcare for all, free University, or other lefty Economic issues here? Or is it just pro-choice and identity politics being intensely debated while we avoid all of those issues that were once relevant to the working class and poor, who used to be our base?

I guess I just found it tough to post somewhere that didn't at least allow the "left" to post their opinions. Is it better now, or even more restrictive?

That should give you a pretty good idea of the current state of the site, and answer most of your questions, however rhetorical some of them may be. It's a very different place outside of primary season.

As an aside, none of the issues you mentioned have ever been off-limits here.

One of the rules is to not slam any group of Democrats.

You'll note thgat the Terms of Service do not require anyone to go along with the NeoLiberal Third Way Democrats. You may also note, however, that there is some prohibition against griping about forum moderation.

... the Lounge is for fun stuff, no politics or questions about DU.

But as for political questions, there don't seem to be many taboo subjects, just keep it civilized, and don't post RW propaganda.
