I think in terms of ounces quarts and gallons. So, when you think in metric liquids, what's your reference?
Mine is a bottle of wine. 750ml. (.8 quarts) I can scale from that.
Length-
1" - 25.4 mm
1mm = .039 inches
Weight-
1 kg = 2.2 lbs (learned that one a long time ago)
1lb = .45 kg
What's your goto conversion references?

It would drive magas mad and would draw the lines even clearer between the forward looking Democratic Party and the science-denying tRump Party, for all to see
Please, USA, go metric so we in Canada can get away from the awful hybrid hodge-podge forced on us by being caught between the world and the backward USA.

(25,943 posts)Even then, I wondered why so much time was devoted to conversions. Why not practice with the metric system without having to convert back to English measurements? The conversion really burned out many in my cohort. Getting into electronics in junior high, I had exposure to metric units all the time. College chemistry and physics used predominantly SI units. There was enough math already, and conversion would have pointless.
My favorite go-to conversion? 1 oz = 28 g

Net Wt. 50 Lbs. (22.68 kg) or 100 Lbs. (45.36 kg)
Usually rounded off to 22.7 or 45.4 kg
I'll always remember that.
A meter I figure is a yard plus about 3 1/2 inches. How that helps me I don't know.
Fahrenheit to Celsius - forget it. 32 will always be freezing and 72 room temperature to me.
