I had to look up what do raccoons who are having sex sound like. They are going at it in a palm tree just outside my bedroom window. I thought the one Ive seen lately was in distress but I could just make out another one so I googled. If it was a successful romp I have 60 plus days until babies!!!!!!

(9,073 posts)A few years ago there were 3 baby raccoons that I would see going up and down the tree at night. We have an iron fence around our apartment building and they would go through the bars to hunt for food I guess. As they got bigger they would wiggle their butts to get through those bars. It was adorable.
We also have skunks that seem to like having babies around here somewhere. They also seem to have 3 at a time.

(2,047 posts)You sure get a lot of wildlife there near the hills & park.

(9,073 posts)Sure do. They are determined to keep me up. Going at it again.

(1,012 posts)Racoons sure are cute, but super smart and crafty, and made short work of my siding and roofing on their way into my attic. If that tree is close enough that whole family could very well be making noise inside your house soon.

(9,073 posts)We havent had any problems with them. The palm tree is still short and fat so its a dream for birds, owls and raccoons. They nest there and then scavenge at night. Eventually they will move on. The longest they have stuck around is about 4 months.

(9,959 posts)... living in the roof. Even when single, they can be noisy! The pest control people had to be called by the HOA, sad to say...

(1,842 posts)They also can get in attics and under eves and do a lot of damage. Stay safe!

(9,073 posts)They stick to the tree to nest in.
They leave the tree at night to go scavenging around the neighborhood but come back to the tree to sleep and well...make whoopee.
Better than getting in peoples roofs.
I welcome them and enjoy them. They are about 6 feet diagonally from the head of my bed out the window.
We've had them for decades on and off but I have never heard them like that before!!!
I hope it all works out for you!😊

(7,347 posts)I'm a little south in bright blue part of OC (!) and i feed several feral kitties in my neighborhood...earlier this week found my favorite which I was trying to coax into becoming a house kitty had been eaten by a coyote. It was very traumatic so please be aware of the danger!
We have raccoons too but they're not a bother kind of cute actually.

(9,073 posts)I've never seen any on our street but there have been plenty of reports on surrounding streets. I get pretty upset at pet owners who allow their cats to roam because of the coyotes. I've seen them when walking up in the hills but they do tend to scurry away.
I've only had indoor cats. There's too much traffic in my opinion to let them roam about, even in the hills.... people race up and down which baffles my mind. The streets are too narrow to be speeding and yet some do it.
I also get an owl from time to time who roosts in the tree. Hasn't been around this year though.
