We have gone to Disney World, Universal and Sea World many times since our 27 year old was born. We were able to go once or twice a year. We always stayed off-property and dined off-site also. But now Disney has made it impossible to stay off-site and get a lot done in the parks. A six day adult park hopper is now almost $800! Ridiculous!!!!
It would easily cost a family of four with airfare, tickets, hotel and food for a week $10,000!!

Airfare, rooms, park admission, food, snacks, and some shopping cost him around $12k for 4 nights for him, his wife, and their 2 kids. Most expensive vacation they have ever gone on. This year I think they are doing a week long cruise for half that.

If you’re going to let a state’s politics determine where you vacation. I’m sure Florida will survive if you decide not to go.

My husband and I are not planning to contribute to Florida’s economy under the current administration/governance.

Yet everything is fully booked. Airfare is high, planes are full. Hotels are high, they’re all full. Disney World, Disneyland are expensive and full. Restaurants. Cruises. Everything is expensive and booked. If you haven’t cruised in a few years, the sticker shock will be a true shock. Then, you’ll be lucky to find space on the cruise you wanted.

Here in PA where I live, the economy is truly booming. Going to PIT for the 6AM departing flights rush, the airport is packed. People are spending money.

I look at prices of travel and think they’re ridiculously high. Then, book the trip. Millions are doing the same.

People complain about inflation, but still spend money.

Complaining about inflation. Wages have risen fast enough to eclipse any inflationary worries. Amusement parks being crowded is proof that the negative news the media is trying to feed everyone isn’t working.

I have been a DVC member for 20 years and I have watched the park fees go up and up over the past 10 years in particular. Some of it is related to COVID which really hurt the parks and hotels and some of it is the cost of doing business. If I wasn't a DVC member I could not afford to take my family to Disney. It was a smart investment that we made when our kids were young. Going anywhere is expensive now. Disney is fully aware of what it costs to visit the parks for a family of four and it does the best it can. Are they perfect? Absolutely not but I will say that my personal experiences with Disney have been good to excellent.
Most major theme parks are now charging over $70 or more daily to visit so Disney is not that out of line for what it offers it visitors. Go skiing at Vail or Park City and you are looking at $200 a day just for the lift ticket.

For the most part, I was bored. I felt that I had seen it all before when I went various times in my 20s and 30s.

To my eyes, very little had changed.

Disney World just hasn't been the same since they tore down the EPCOTT Horizons Pavillion some 20 years ago. It was my favorite.
