Name a television show that "won you over."

In that you began watching it with a certain degree of skepticism but after a while you stop and think to yourself, "No, this is actually pretty good."

For me, it was Ted Lasso. When it started, I thought it was just going to lazily retread the plot to Major League, and overly rely on a lot of tired "Ugly American in Europe" tropes and clichés.

But soon I realized, no, it actually took its own original course, and the characters--especially the title character--were some of the most likeable and dimensional characters I've seen on TV in a long time. (Of course, that's the thing about the Ted Lasso character itself--people are always underestimating him and writing him off.)

I did give Schitt's Creek a second chance and liked it all the way through.

I'm "hit or miss" on comedies. Most are too formulaic and NOT for me (e.g., Parks & Rec, Community, How I Met Your Mother, etc., etc., etc)

... people recommended "Knotts Landing" and "3rd Rock from the Sun" as shows they watched and I might like... most of the time, I don't like recommendations. Or, the shows turn out to be okay, but not all that. The two I mentioned did get to be ones I enjoyed very much, but did not expect I would like.

I have episodes of Columbo on my DVR and can also watch them on Amazon.

When I was a teen, Columbo came on on Sundays nights (the show rotated with McCloud, and McMillan & Wife). I now go to sleep to Columbo every Sunday night (for sure) and oftentimes throughout the week. The show just makes me feel better. I can probably cite 90% of the dialogue.

Peter Falk - Wonderful!

Hey, a friend of mine told me there were inside jokes in the show, something I like.

So I watched, and saw quite a few.

Even "The Big Lebowski" was satirized in it!

Not to mention all the guest voice actors, like Weird Al, John DeLancie, etc.

I was a fanboy from day one after watching Breaking Bad.

But it sort of meandered and went on too long and went out with a whimper.

It was still good, though. But BB was much stronger start to finish.

For example, the main character steals a stash from a drug dealer so she can sell it herself, take the money and run off with her small child who she gave up. She steals the identity of another person and meets her lover, and the lover doesn't notice she is not the same person. Not the kind of thing I wanted to spend time with.

So I gave up on it. About a year later, I watched another episode and the plot and the characters gelled and came into focus. It eventually became one of my favorite TV shows.

Later, I found out the folks behind the show were the same as the ones that made the movie Ginger Snaps. I had a similar experience with Ginger Snaps when I saw it years ago. I did not like the main characters and the plot seemed hackneyed. But as I watched, I started to really root for the characters who are developed as the story progresses. It turned out to be a surprisingly good movie.

I watched the entire thing in under 48 hours.

For me, it was Seinfeld. I never really cared for him as a stand-up comedian. I like my comedy a little more edgy, like Sam Kinison. But Seinfeld was well written and the rest of the cast was really good.

At first I thought they were just trying to cash in on Monk's success but I was bored one night and thought what the hell. I loved it. Shows that combine humor, mystery, and a touch of drama are my favorite. Shawn and Gus' friendship was amazing. I loved how they nicknamed Lassiter Lassie. The Captain was great and I totally shipped Sean and Juliet!

I watched the first season when it came out and I found it interesting but also difficult to watch because it is a German language show and the story is complex. When I heard the buzz after Season 2 I went back and watched Season 1 and 2 just in time for Season 3.
I was great.
