I've been a fan of Madonna since she arrived on the scene way back when. This was my 4th time seeing her. Previous tours I saw were Blond Ambition (1990), Drowned World (2001), and Reinvention (2004). So, it's been 20 years!!! since I last saw her live.
For someone 65 years old, she still puts on an amazing show. I don't know how she still tours at her age. I'd be totally exhausted.
Last night the concert was at the Acrisure Arena, which is only a few years old and was built primarily to host our minor league hockey team. It only seats 11K people, so for a concert it felt very intimate and there was not a bad seat in the house.
The audience, surprisingly to me, was ALL ages from 20s up to late 70s! The majority were probably around my age, late 50s.
She did start late as usual, but not too bad. She took the stage at 10 and the show was over at 12:15.
The show is a fun historical romp through her entire career. She sang most of her huge hits and a few of her not so hits. There were a few songs (hits) I felt were missing, like Papa Don't Preach and we did get an accoustical version of Express Yourself which was a sing along which was fun, but a full on version of Express Yourself would have been more satisfying.
She sounded great and the production value of the show was awesome. Our seats were right behind the sound booth so the sound we were experiencing was top notch which is proved by the several short videos I recorded during the show.
I left both elated and depressed. Depressed as I realized just how old she is now which means how old I am now and also the fact that I'll probably never see her preform live again and probably would not want to given her age.
But overall it was a terrific nostalgic evening of song and dance.
Thank you, Madonna, for including our little arena in Palm Desert, CA on your tour!

(297 posts)For this wonderful, thoughtful review and for sharing it. We usually attend several concerts each year. I try to have at least one concert purchased to look forward to, sometimes a couple depending on when and which performers are touring. Ive never seen Madonna but would probably enjoy seeing her! I feel like you and I have the same experience of looking around at the concert goers, realizing that these are my peers (!) and that I am aging! Its tough. I never had those thoughts dancing to the Clash at Shea Stadium two nights in a row! We just saw Peter Frampton and he was amazing! I am not a huge fan but do like his music but knew it would be a great show and it was. He suffers from a muscle disease and performed from a chair. But I tell you that this man did not have a
Care in the world while he was playing. Some kind of beyond this world spirit had entered his body and came out through the guitar. It was quite a thing to see. I felt good that he was able to perform (as he
Mentions at the end of the
Show) and that I was there not only to enjoy it but to support him. Unbelievably, these performers are still able to
Maintain a pretty high level of performance despite advanced age that I have
Witnessed firsthand at concerts- Stones, B52s, even KC amd the Sunshine Band! Ha!
Again, thank you for sharing and I will add Madonna to my list!
