He was death on squirrels. He'd sit just under the maple tree, like he wasn't paying a bit of attention--but he was listening intently! Pretty soon, he'd trot down to the woods, a hundred yards away, and in just a few minutes, he'd come out with a squirrel in his mouth, pleased to the gills with himself! (I couldn't train him otherwise, he was a natural hunter; and it's not like there weren't enough squirrels.........
