https://www.vermontcountrystore.com/malted-milk-biscuits/product/88266My kindergarten teacher tried to hoist these "cookies" on my class 60+ years ago.
One bite and I roundly rejected them. White milk was bad enough, but these things were more vile.
My teacher tried to gaslight me. Said they tasted like chocolate chip cookies. With the naivety of a child with suspension of disbelief, I tried the cookie again. Worse than the first time.
Back in the day, teachers got nervous when conformity was threatened in their classroom.
We compromised: I was provided Nabisco Saltine Crackers during milk-and-cookie time.

Nap time in a half day class AND malted milk biscuits? Might posh sounding to me. All we got to eat was craft paste.

Probably a good thing, given your description, and not to mention that they highlight the malt, which means I wouldn't be able to stop eating them!

Not to mention uncomfortable. Lying down on thin blankets on a solid wood floor.

(46,312 posts)7. It was all a waste of my valuable five-year old time.
I barely "graduated" with a complete knowledge of the alphabet. Forget numbers.

Warren City Schools here. And I remember the craft paste. You scooped it out of a big plastic jug with a wooden ruler.

(51,499 posts)8. Love malted milk. My grandfather sold Watkins products door to door in the 1930s-1950s. Watkins made a
malted milk powder and also little disks of malted milk, like the centers of today's Whoppers, but not covered in chocolate. Loved them.

... kitchen stuff. When we cleared her house she still had Watkins paring knives, and old spice bottles from the fifties.
