The DU Lounge

I am so horribly addicted to this place. I really need to take a breather. But I can't seem to remember what I did before I got into DU.
Let's see.
- the backyard garden needs weeding
- I've fallen in love with a new TV series - Murdoch Mysteries - set in Toronto, 1889.
- I'm starting to read again. I love the Sebastian St. Cyr novels.
- There's always blogging, although that's been exhausting lately.
- For some reason, my dollhouse is not calling me, but there's a room I want to do.
- I haven't treated myself to chili in a while.
- I could walk my dog.
And my taxes... I could do my taxes...

(81,318 posts)Yes, I still watch the news shows (everything BUT Pox Noise of course) and I was a news junkie from way back in my younger days when I worked in it.
But DU was a revelation! And I did - and still do - appreciate the live interaction and the round-the-clock news monitoring and commentary. Its GREATLY helped widen my understanding and perspective, and kept me current, and informed.
And I appreciate the opinions here. So much of that has been so thought-provoking! And its given me good talking points to use in my Indivisible work and advocacy.

My usual plan of attack is to take a look at DU in-between said hobbies and chores.
Today was too much fun. I overdid my DU quota.
Not supposed to be political here, so Ill shorten the message of the day (and year)
These things are beyond our control or influence. But we can succeed despite them.
Control/influence what you can. The rest is like sports talk radio. Anything said before a game is meaningless, and anything said after it is pointless.
Courts have repeatedly failed but the ballot box has succeeded.
I love that analogy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meaningless before and pointless after.
There is nothing I hate more than sports talk. It just amazes me that a bunch of washed up football players can sit around and try to anticipate what's going to happen, or dissect it long after it's over.
And yet, some people LOVE IT!!!! Some people love to listen to the predictions and hash over the events. For hours, on multiple channels. Heck, there are entire TV cable channels devoted to this.
I love your analogy!!!
There's a hobby for everyone. For some it's DU, for some it's football. For some it's both. For some, it's something else entirely.
