The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsOMG! I have been so bored today,I watched Ann Colter on the View just for something to do.
I am in Tuscon, AZ! There has got to be something better to do than THAT! Suggestions PLEASE! My TV can't take me throwing things at it anymore.

(14,120 posts)She made herself look dumber than normal. I know, hard to believe! But according to Colter Civil Rights are only for black people. But we liberals brand them for everyone and everything.
That is why my husband took the remote away from me and told me to get on DU before my head blew off.

I'll post their online link to that issue below, but it's become uber-difficult to navigate. I recommend
getting a copy from one of their bright-red sidewalk boxes virtually everywhere. It may be the trouble
I had getting to-and-fro, but their "Best of" didn't seem to be activity- (and FREE activity-) friendly
as it used to be, but the first 4 pages or so of EVERY issue is filled with things to do and see and
experience in Tucson.
.
If you're near a library (especially, but not limited to the Main Library downtown), ask a librarian to
show you a magazine or book geared towards informing new residents about the potential joys of
Tucson.
.
AND (great timing again), in two weeks will be my favorite Tucson festival of all -- the Meet Yourself
Festival... a global community extravaganza.
.
"The Czech Bouncers"? Probably a folk-dancing group. "The Flying Tortillas Breakdancers"? "Hafla
Middle Eastern Dance Party"? "Green Light Haitian Voodoo Jazz"? "VASA Swedish Folk Dancers"? "The
Seven Pipers Band"? "Ritmo Becheche Cuban Ritual Music and Dance"?
.
Those are just some of Friday's offerings... and it goes on all weekend.
.
Admission is free, though there are LOTS of out-of-the-ordinary food booths (usually with offerings
from $2-$6 -- I highly recommend the fried bananas and the chicken satay at the Buddhist booth --
two of the best examples of those foods I've ever had.

Not sure I can make it this year, but The Czech Bouncers are certainly an incentive. I don't know if
my 6'6" friend who plays one of those ENORMOUS triangular bass balalaikas in the Tucson Russian
Balalaika Orchestra will be there or not, but I'd like to see them play again.

And my my sweet, ubercute friend The CobbleBabe will undoubtedly be part of the poi spinning
exhibitions. This soft-spoken kinda shy nice NICE person dresses in these FLAMBOYANT costumes
and spins seriously dangerous pots of fire like nunchucks. She is a wonderful wonder to behold.

(82,383 posts)Much more interesting than anything Ann Colter has to say. Like reading the dictionary. Or listening to my aunt list her ailments. Or counting sheep.
