I find this song to be a pretty good jam! I know people like to make fun of Captain Beefheart, it's definitely unusual, but there are many of us who appreciate "experimental" or "avant-garde" jazz. Captain Beefheart was a pioneer and a big influence on the scene. It's not hard to see why he and Frank Zappa were such good friends and collaborators.

Have you ever heard the story of how he got his name?

How did he get the name?

Also, I read that for musicianship, most people in rock bands of the 60's - 70's can't hold a candle to these guys.

I did read the story of him trying to sell a vacuum cleaner to Aldous Huxley while in his teens.
