A man at the sushi bar ordered a plate full of uni sushi and said it's his favorite sushi. Well, I just had to try it. I ordered one and the chef asked me, "Are you sure?" Lol I should have known.

I popped it in my mouth and it took every ounce of my resolve to not puke. And, being the devilish person that I am, I chewed it up and swallowed it. I told my girlfriend it was the best sushi I'd ever had and she just had to try it!

Lmfao, she did and she was so pissed off at me!! She spit it out in a napkin and proceeded to chug down her beer. Hell, I wasn't going to be the only one who tried it!! Aahh, good times.🤣 🤣 🤣

Ouzo comes close, along with any other anise-flavored liqueur. Given enough time and alcohol, however, I could toss back a shot without batting an eyelash.

I don't like it anyway you can make it, even fried isn't good! Sauerkraut is the only thing as nasty as okra.

I also use it in stir fry which I season with Cajun spices and Worcestershire sauce. So Good Slice it really thin and toss it in the hot pan for a few minutes.

I don't like the slimy stuff, so fried and gumbo are the only ways I can eat it.

But if you do like the slimy stuff, try ir boiled with a little sour cream. that really brings oout the slime.

but being in the Marines and statined various places vastly expanded my culinary vocabulary. Okra is one of the foods I learned from North Carolina, along with pulled pork collard greens, and rabbit. Also the clam chowder which is neither "New England" (cream) not "Manhattan" (tomato). Not that I can make any of those any more. I can get the ingredients for pulled pork, and now that it's been brought to the front of my memory , I might - but the others I can't get the right ingredients.

I have not consumed soft drinks in years. The closest I get is a very cold Topo Chico.

Foodwise, crabmeat and oysters. I would rather have fresh caught crappie or blue gill; shrimp or lobster.

I am a former picky eater.

Because as I became a late teen ('70) my palate expanded dramatically over the next several years, and continued. Especially Chinese, Indian cooking in terms of quite different tastes than various American, European meals.

You've reminded me that one of these days if I see a vending machine w Dr Pepper; since I learned to eat so many different herbs & spices- I wonder how I'd react to it now 60 yrs later.
Would I like it? Or, at least would I not find it as awful as I did back then.

I drank Coke, Pepsi, maybe, too sweet back then.

Later for Ginger Ale; which I didn't like either till after I'd eaten, and cooked a lot of Chinese food in my later 20's where I often used ginger as one flavoring.

One of humanity's assets is how we use cleverness to help in our survival. Cheese is basically milk that's spoiled, but in a way that can aid in long-term preservation in an edible form.

However...some cheeses are too close to the taste and smell and mouth feel of the 2% you just took a swig of before you realize it's spoiled, and spoiled to the point where you don't want to watch as you pour it down the drain because you're pretty sure it's gonna be chunky.

I'd rather eat undressed, plain, cold tofu out of the package. It's not evil, it just needs help to up the edibility level acceptably

The more it smells (like seaweed), the sicker it makes me. It is the smell, and my sense of the smell seems better than other people. I don't mind some white fish, if fresh, but fried and dipped in tartar sauce.
