We need more handicap parking spaces. The percentage of handicap parking spaces was probably assigned as part of A.D.A.

That percentage was fine, 20 or 30 years ago. But now, the Boomers have reached their dotage. So the percentage of handicapped citizens has increased in proportion to the general population. But the percentage of required handicap parking has not increased to take into account the change in the population's needs.

My wife needs to use one. She has inoperable damage in the lumbar spine, so can't walk very far all at once. (Sone days worse than others.)
But, the letter of ADA can override the spirit. My one glaring example is the dog park near our home.
They have ONE handicapped spot, but the parking lot is 150 yards from the entrance to the park.
They clearly met the letter of the law, but hardly the spirit.

sometimes my back goes out and i i feel really bad . heart gives me issues and several other nasites . its hard to find a disabled parking place and my health care worker has to drop me off in the loading. unloading zone @ our apartment complex . and other times he drops me off @ curbside and parks way out in the boonies , say our local grocery store . i use walkitalkies to say i am checking out and he comes and gets me .
