Tomorrow I'm having urodynamics testing. I wonder if this is a test at which it would help me greatly if Mrs. V. were to go with me to hold my hand. Thoughts?
(On my first visit to this urogynecologist, even though I demanded and got a woman doctor, I was severely manhandled, then had to take a disparaging comment about my parts. I was too scared and too weak to call her on it. I started crying about halfway through the exam and it got no gentler and I got no apology.)

There are some real bastards out there. Didn't have that procedure done, but there was a period in my life where I had collected enough doctor's business cards to play war.

(50,566 posts)My worst experience: After my first child was born, I got pregnant again, but at about 9 weeks I started miscarrying. I was in the hospital and the doctor kept insisting that "a little bleeding was normal" (it was much more than "a little" and that I must be so excited! and "What was I going to name the baby!?" ... I was lying there thinking: "Uh, well, there's not going to BE a baby this time!" Of course I was right (luckily I did go on to have a second beautiful, healthy baby). I couldn't help but wonder why a doctor wouldn't take a more cautious approach in that situation. Very odd to me. I didn't have the energy to follow up with a complaint or anything.
Anyway, I know this is a very different experience, and yours was physically painful whereas mine was more psychologically strange, but sometimes I am flabbergasted by the lack of empathy/judgment of medical staff (and others are amazing and kind and compassionate).
