Sometimes it's nice to not listen to someone singing and just enjoy the music.
When I'm in that mood, I like to cue up:
The Inner Mounting Flame - John McLaughlin & Mahavishnu Orchestra
Wired or Guitar Shop - Jeff Beck
....and anything from Stanley Clarke up to and including "Rocks, Pebble and Sand." After that, he kinda went disco on me.
So...what kind of music does it for you, DUers?

(2,865 posts)... you would win that. Unfortunately it's been a rough year. I think I'll go listen to some Jeff Beck tonight and get over it.

(12,132 posts)Mr. Coltrane knows what's up. Although there a few words in there I think it still counts.
I would listen to an album of that contained all of Rush's instrumentals - especially live versions with extended solos. They've done enough of them I think they could make a good album - they just never did a whole album of them...

(719 posts)'La Villa Strangiato' and 'YYZ' do it for me. Good stuff.

(12,132 posts)La Villa Strangiato might be my favorite Rush song period.

(36,498 posts)The finest tribute to the genius of Leroy Shield - EVER. Leroy Shield's Hal Roach studio music was never published so the Beau Hunks transcribed the music, note for note, from film recordings. They nailed it.
R Crumb loved this music so much he drew the portrait of shield for the album cover.
The Beau Hunks Play the Original Laurel & Hardy Music, Vol. 1 and 2, merit a look-see, too.

(55,031 posts)also I have some great saz music from Turkey that has instrument-only tracks but even the vocals are so exotic (and incomprehensible to me) that it sort of counts, I would say

After that, Byron Berline - Dad's Favorites. David Grisman - Tone Poems.
