My visit to the urologist.

Last edited Sat Dec 15, 2012, 02:45 AM - Edit history (1)

I had an appointment with my urologist today. After my last appointment, 6 months ago, they told me my next appointment would be a "full bladder" appointment. I complied. I drank a couple of bottles of water an hour before my appointment and arrived on time.

There were way too many other people already sitting in the waiting room. The doctor was running late. Soon, I was marching around the waiting room in ever-increasing agony. After 40 minutes I cracked. I told the receptionist that I was there for a "full bladder" appointment and I needed to do something REAL SOON. She told me that there was a misunderstanding, that this wasn't a "full bladder" appointment, but I could use the bathroom down the hall RIGHT AWAY.

I hustled down to the bathroom, slammed the door, and dropped my drawers. The resulting explosion included a nugget exiting in the opposite direction. I was angry. I was relieved. I cleaned up the mess.

I opened the door and looked in both directions. The coast was clear. I nonchalantly strolled back toward the waiting room. I had my hand on the waiting room doorknob when the receptionist intercepted me and told me that the Doctor would see me now.

The Doctor consulted with me. My PSA was up and my free PSA was borderline. He wanted to do a PCA3 test. The PCA3 test would require- a urine sample- to be collected immediately after a digital rectal examination. I explained that I was fresh out of urine at this time. He suggested that I drink some water and he could come back when I was ready. He went off to attend to other patients and I went off to the water fountain.

The doctor came back a half hour later. I said I was ready to go again. I dropped my drawers and bent over, He snapped on gloves and said- this is going to be MORE THOROUGH THAN USUAL.

He didn't lie. I made a lot of squealing noises. Afterwards, I provided the precious urine sample...

They are supposed to contact me with the results of the test in a couple of weeks.
