4. I accept your apology....

on behalf of all the posters, incl. myself, who have been needlessly attacked on DU over the years by various other posters.

Having never called anyone a name, or said f___ yu, or cursed at another poster....it's amazing how many "ignores" I've racked up and how many insulting, if not outright attacking, posts I've rec'd from other posters. Why? I guess because I disagreed with their position, and they were extremists.

by your post.

It has been a few years since I got really lambasted/flamed, and years ago those things really hurt. Maybe I've learned to tippytoe in how I frame some opinions, or just avoid some topics that will set-them-off. Or maybe I've grown a thicker skin, and if so I'm thanking those flamers at DU because real life didn't do that for me, vulnerable/tender precious flower that I am. I get that you find the "reason" for flamers doing their ugly thing to be incomprehensible, NOT because we disagree with them in opinions, just a NASTINESS.

Here are some traits of flamers:

Flaming, characterized by:

* Replying provocatively to every post.

* Deliberately ignoring many MANY ANSWERS specific to their DEMANDS..

* Thinking they will wear out whoever their target it, determined to have the last word.

* Launching personal attacks/accusations.

* Ceaselessly demanding Replies, under cover of the pseudo-“altruistic” motive of eliciting an “explanation,” but with NO amount of answers EVER being enough explanation/clarification for this SAINT, with the demanded criteria ever-CHANGING.


I'll always lovingly remember Catwoman's posting long long ago to me, "Don't let them run you off!"

12. Well, UT...I'm glad you're still around! I have grown to accept

my "ignores" as badges of honor.

If a poster has been posting here for a couple of years and has no ignores, when we know how some posters are....I'm thinking the poster with no ignores isn't really saying anything or voicing an opinion, or giving a true perspective.
