No, nothing to do with Fraser and Niles.

These two Sandhill Cranes adopted my immediate neighborhood last summer. They quickly learned to take handouts of whole kernel corn, chopped boiled eggs, bread, etc.
After a few weeks, the male would take food out of my hand. Cool, except that sharp bill was a little disconcerting. He also became very good at catching things in mid-air.
They left when it froze up before Xmas. I hope they will be back in the spring.

I know from personal experience that birds do remember the humans they've grown trust in the past.

(6,581 posts)-- they were coming 3-4 times a day every day for a handout, and usually got it from my house. If not, they would try another neighbor.
