Not only was LSU shut out, they finished with under 100 yards of total offense. That's pretty pathetic for an undefeated number one in the title game.

NEW ORLEANS -- To those LSU followers who think they got short-sheeted by the BCS …

To those Oklahoma State honks who insist their team belonged here Monday night …

To those Associated Press voters who said they would keep LSU atop their ballots even if the Tigers lost to Alabama …

To all of them I say, "Are you nuts?"

Alabama removed LSU (and OSU) from the national title equation and also removed all doubt about who's No. 1.

More at link:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls11/story/_/id/7445348/alabama-crimson-tide-dominates-lsu-tigers-allstate-bcs-national-championship

OSU was pretty good, but would have been blown out far worse than LSU.

'Bama played about as complete a game as you can play. You also have to consider that the Tide outplayed LSU in their earlier meeting this season (though they deserved to lose because they couldn't kick field goals).

Tue Jan 10, 2012, 12:59 PM
Jan 2012

To the sports reporter who covers the buckeyes for the past 25 years. He has reservations about Meyer. Here was his argument

1. Too many players at florida getting arrested.
2. He was only 7-5 when his team was full of guys he recruited.
3. He retires citing health reasons and then reconsiders the next day (sports reporter said that was fishy).
4. He retired again saying he wanted be with his family...but his daughters were already away at college (fishy again)
5. He then takes the job with OSU after retiring for his family.

I enjoy college football, but I dont know the nuts and bolts of everything associated with it. The sports reporter said this may not be a perfect marriage.

We shall see.

But what may balance all that is that Meyer will have a greater measure of autonomy (from what I've read) than he did at Florida.

As you said, we shall see.

I say the best team won, and proved they were the best team.

As a Bama alumni I say no matter what anyone says there isn't a team this year that could beat them. I lived in New Orleans for almost ten years, and I can sympathize with LSU but they took Bama for granted and did not bring their "A" game.

I live in Oregon now, and as to the comment about the Ducks.....are you serious? The ducks wouldn't have made it past the first quarter. Different caliber team all together.

Oregon runs track very well though. Prefontaine was a hero in my book. When Oregon wins 9 BCS championships we will talk again....actually, when they win one we will talk again...

Wed Jan 11, 2012, 09:56 PM

Oregon would've given them a game too. Stanford as well. Oregon scored a TD on LSU in the first quarter of their game. 27 points total. In 7 quarters Bama scored no TDs against LSUs defense.

Basically any team with a good run defense and strong offense Bama would've had trouble with. There are no teams like that in the SEC. Bama only played 3 or 4 teams with a winning record, and Bama's out of conference schedule was pathetic, so we'll never know.

Other divisions in football seem to manage a playoff just fine. I'm tired of the money men orchestrating who plays in what bowl. If the fans of a team "travel well", then that team can get in a bigger bowl.

Let's make it about winning games. I'd be fine with an LSU/Alabama title game if they'd actually gotten there through a playoff. Otherwise, it was just a
do-over game and held little interest for me.
