dominance/status thing with Twilight. When my big male Monster was alive, Twilight would sleep on spots he liked to sleep at: on top of the drawers, on the highest shelf in my old apartment, etc. And he would always have get her to move. Now that Monster is gone Twilight is always sleeping on my bed, right where I sleep. Poor Twilight. When she was a kitten she totally dominated everyone with her play and antics. Then she turned 1 and Monster wouldn't let her get away with anything.

(11,931 posts)She's a german shepherd dog, so kinda big to share the bed with us. Can't have the cat in here sleeping with us. He'll bite you if he doesn't approve of the way you move in the middle of the night.

(30,777 posts)The cat likes the back of the couch in the TV room, because a hot air duct is nearby. In the daytime, she follows the sun, from one window and room to another. The dog sleeps in whatever room has her human friends.
At night, they sleep in bed. They each have their own spot. If the dog tries to usurp the cat's spot, the dog gets her nose scratched until she moves over.

(115,900 posts)Milo usually sleeps in his heated cat bed except when he's sleeping in the kitty tent or on the top tier of the cat tree or in the cat bed on top of the refrigerator. Or on me, at night. Jeoffry sleeps on my bed when I'm not in it, or on me when I am, or in the kitty tent, or on the refrigerator, or on the windowsill. Pixie sleeps on the top tier of the cat tree when Milo isn't on it, or in her own cat bed next to the bedroom window, or on the foot of the bed at night.

(6,011 posts)If Sally, our border collie, is on his side of the bed as my husband picks up the covers she barks at him and moves to my side. I get under the covers and nudge her she moves to the foot of the bed. Sometimes she joins our son, but he has a twin bed and she doesn't like moving legs bumping her so wakes us all up barking at his legs. She has her own nice foam bed in the corner of our room, where she sleeps in milder weather, and recently discovered the recliner in the living room. Like Goldilocks, she likes to try them all.

This whole place is his, really. I'm just here because I have opposable thumbs for the cat cans and can de-lump the box.

(31,535 posts)varies with the temperature. During warm weather she might sleep somewhere on the bed, but not necessarily in contact with me or she might sleep someplace else. It just depends on her mood.
In cold weather, however, it's a different story. I sleep in my side so she either climbs up and plants her butt at my waistline with the rest of her draped over my hip or she snuggles up against my torso where my hips bend when I pull my knees up. She only weighs about 7 lbs. so once she settles in, I can hardly tell she's there. She knows my schedule pretty well, so when I get up and say I'm going to bed, she's ready to lay down and sleep, not play.

(45,558 posts)So I have at least 2 cats with me at all times.
They love drapping their increasingly chubby bodies over me.
The one cat follows me around all day and sleeps on my back or next to me.

Nothing like a Sunday morning cuddle to start your day off right.
Sandy(the dog) sleeps with me every night until my wife comes to bed. Then she reluctantly moves to the couch, with a pillow for her head.
Yeah, our pets have it real rough! And we wouldn't have it any other way!
