Who watches tanked? Or knows about salt water aquariums?

There are some salt water aquariums that seem crowded to me. It must require a lot of upkeep to keep that many fish in a tank healthy. Anyone have any experience with this?

1. I love Tanked, and know a bit about salt.

Thing is, they squeeze things together for TV. Salt tanks (and well done freshwater tanks) have to go through a break-in period for the bacteria cycle to get going. You always want to put a couple of fish in for a bit so they can poo and eat and so forth. That "We have to get this all done in 24 hours!" thing is, imo, bs. Or they're willing to kill a ton of expensive fish.

As for crowding, it depends. Believe me, all those tanks are professionally maintained so cleanliness can be dealt with. I'd be more concerned about stress if there are not hiding places and dark time and species that stress one another out due to activity levels or predation.

I have on again off again love affairs with aquariums. I know me and I can get a little lazy and then guilty. But every now and then I succumb and put one in my office. If I had the money I'd probably have professionals do it.

I like the tank guys, though.

2. I like the shows too.

The characters are likeable, even if they are off the beaten path.
