My photography (pics)

I like to consider myself something of an amateur photographer. It's just a small hobby, no formal training outside one high school photography class, and I wouldn't dare to suggest that I'm all that talented. However I've seen some others here post their photos either in their sigs or as part of the DU photo contest, so I thought I'd share my small collection of favs. I take very few photos to tell you the truth, far fewer than I should. Many of these were taken on holiday when I didn't have an excuse NOT to take photos. My main interest is composition, lighting and form. I'm not a portrait photographer and in fact prefer people aren't in most of my shots. Here's my photobucket gallery of my favourite shots over the years:

And a few of my personal favourites:

You certainly have the photographer's eye. These are very good.

I love the sweep of the buildings, the details, the colors. I also love how you frame things. The view through the wrought iron onto the waterway is stunning.

I was amused to see people in your first two pics! But they're really a nice touch. I love how you look up for your pictures; so many people don't. It gives us a view you don't always get.

I'm glad my insomnia got me up to see these!

Come play in the Photo group.......everybody is very friendly and we love to see new people posting.

Thanks for sharing these!

I'll make a note of joining the photo group. Would it be possible to cross post this there or is that frowned upon?

Yeah perhaps I shouldn't have said so much that I dislike people in my photos so much as that I almost never "snap" photos. If there are people in my photos they are there very consciously.

I figured the people were deliberate...

They looked just right.

I esp. liked the one of the man standing in the spot of sunlight in the cathedral. Beautiful! and the glowing stained glass was Wow!

I need to go back to bed for a bit...see ya later!

My wife constantly complains I take pictures of stuff instead of people. But the people she wants me to take pictures of hate having their picture taken and stuff is more interesting to my eye most of the time. And stuff doesn't complain.

Cool pictures!
