Can I get Verizon to do the obviously right thing?

We upgraded our smart phones less than a month ago. Mine needs to be replaced. I talked to Verizon yesterday and they sent me a replacement. It'll arrive today.

The confirmation email revealed that the replacement is not a new phone! The customer service rep did not tell me that it's a refurbished (or whatever) phone. In fact, I won't know until I open it whether it's even the same model.

Do you think I'll get anywhere if I demand a new phone? Less than a month! And they send me a used phone?! What utter bullshit.

Unless a refurb is not readily available, in which case they will send you a new one.

Refurbs are like new. I wouldn't worry about it.

It'll have the same warranty.

I bought my Iphone 4 refurbished 2 1/2 years ago... It was clear it had NEVER even been removed from the original box.

Frequently folks just turn them back when they change their minds, but they still have to sell them as refurbished.

I'm at the age when I prefer to avoid an argument with Corporate America, unless truly necessary--not good for ones' peace of mind nor blood pressure.

They pretty much lock that into your contract, that if you have trouble, they have the right to replace your phone with a refurbished phone.

In all fairness, though, like the poster above, I've used refurbished phones before with no problem. Think of it as a pushback to our throwaway society.

It may sound wrong to you, but I'd guess you'll have no problem. Of course, the model should be the same. That you can fight for.

My pass word which I've had since 1643 on my ancient " freebee " Motorola Coup shit phone no longer works so I will have to go and wait at a Verizon store for 2 hours before they can pressure me into a newer phone .

MFM is right somewhere in the print that only a computer scanner could read it says may the buyer beware .
