That's what it sounds like. Some legal clerk mixed up, or transposed, or otherwise repeated the names of "plantiff" & "defendant".

That he took a client that was suing the title company that closed her loans not realizing he owned the title company and found himself as both the defendant and the attorney for the plaintiff once the suit was filed.
