I was at guitar center looking for the first truly new guitar to buy in years. I have a thing for 90s Jackson guitars so I usually just buy used guitars but anyway not the point. Is it just me or have more modern guitars become smaller they have 24 frets but just seems smaller.

(8,217 posts)I tend to go for acoustic guitars, and I've only had two electric ones. Yes, I was a teen in the 90s so I went for a Stratocaster. I keep thinking I want to get myself a Les Paul, but I never did.
I have not noticed if the guitars have gotten smaller.
Although! You might be right. I seem to remember some guitars in the 90s had thicker and a wider neck. I believe they made the necks thinner to make it easier to play.
Case in point, I love my Taylor Big Baby which is smaller than a full sized guitar but it sounds awesome. The construction has a metal rod that can adjust the warp on the neck.

(2,140 posts)Dunno...I have an old Washburn,22 frets, which is really no different size wise than my 2 Stratocasters,21 frets, one being new,the other 10 years old.All 3 seem to be the same size as a friends 60s model Telecaster...Then again,I'm no expert,my experience is limited to Fenders and the 1 Washburn, and I've only been playing for a little over a year...
