What kind of snacks for this?

We're having friends over tomorrow. They'll arrive at about 5:00, and the plan is to sit out on the deck and have some beers, then at around 6:15 we're leaving for a ball game.

What kinds of snacks do you put out for an hour, that won't spoil a fabulous dinner of hot dogs?

I wondered if they would be part of "dinner" instead.

gosh, chips and salsa are the easiest and even sort of healthy. crackers and cheese - maybe a few slices of summer sausage or something like that?

our friends are both Hispanic and both make kick-ass homemade salsa. I don't. And I don't want to serve them Old El Paso or some crap like that.

But it is a good idea. Thanks!

square of cambozola cheese at the base of each endive leaf. Top with a tiny bit of red pepper jelly. Display in a star shape and it is really pretty and healthy. We had guests last night and they kept wanting that particular hors d'oeuvre again and again.

add it to cream cheese, blend well and serve with grain crackers.

Goes very well with beer.

with lemon zest grated over the top and some cumin seeds and a crushed garlic clove or two.

Salted almonds.

Hummus with pita chips.

Radishes, cut in half. let people spread butter on them and sprinkle some salt on them.
