RIP Mr. Pitt

Seinfeld regular Ian Abercrombie has died at the age of 77.

The British character actor, who played Elaine Benes' fussy and eccentric boss Mr. Pitt, passed away on Thursday.

His credits also include film roles in Von Ryan's Express, They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, Young Frankenstein, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Army of Darkness, and Rango.

Abercrombie also played 800-year-old wizard Professor Crumbs in Disney TV hit Wizards of Waverly Place and he voiced Palpatine/Darth Sidious on George Lucas’ animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

It was the better part of 20 years ago when he played this character -- this was in the middle episodes of the series, so I'm guessing 93-94 ish?

If he was only in his late 50's then, he looked old beyond his age.

Anyway, funny character. RIP.

I agree though. He still looked older than that. (Makeup?)

Here he is at the premier of the Clone Wars in 2008:

Kind of looks like Larry David.

I was just listing his Seinfeld eps.

Abercrombie was known to cult film audiences as Wiseman in the comedy horror film Army of Darkness (1993). He guest-starred in many television series such as The Nanny, Wizards of Waverly Place, Airwolf, Babylon 5, and NewsRadio. He portrayed evil chancellor Palpatine in the film The Clone Wars (2008) and reprised his role as Palpatine in the television adaption and its two spin-off video games: Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes and Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels.

I didn't realize he was in Young Frankenstein (uncredited)
