This was in Tuscany, north of Rome...

And it was a beautiful, tranquil day!

If I were going to go back, that's where I would go.

The scenery, the climate, the people...the food!

It was so wonderful.

The day we spent at the monastery was our best day...

Tuscany was the cradle of the renaissance.

Florence (my favourite city), Pisa, Siena, Lucca, and much else is all there.

How could you NOT go to Tuscany? Been to Italy twice and visited Tuscany each time, and each time it was the favourite part of the trip.

It looks heavenly there. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

Does that Roman numeral read 1095? It can't be THAT old, can it?

It appears to give a date of a gift (donatum) for which 1095 could be entirely plausible, even if the image referring to it was later.

But just that one glass.....there were opportunities for other vintages, but I knew it would not be smart for me to have any more.

It was heavenly! I think that day we felt more relaxed and comfortable than at any other place we visited.

The monastery was very old. I don't remember just how old, but that date would not surprise me.

Glad you enjoyed!

How was the wine?

Don't you love it how everything in Europe seems to have a thousand years of history behind it? I mean here a little run down shack is likely just a little run down shack. But in Europe it's probably also where Charlemane rested before such and such a battle, and on and on...

Although I was being careful not to have too much. On an empty stomach, it zooms right into my blood stream, and then there's trouble!

The age of things always gets me! In Edinburgh, they talk about the old city and the new city.........and the new city is much older than our country. We are such a young nation!

And when you combine that with the history......well, my mind boggles!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures...

Do you remember if there were bees on the flowers? It looks like a bee paradise, but I don't see any.

It did smell good there! And yes, there were bees......lots of them! They were zooming all over.

I did stand back a little from them...

This was the best day of our Italian trip!
