SuddenLink or AT&T?

Late next month, I will be moving to Arcata, CA., and I heard that these are the two cable/Internet providers in the area. I looked up reviews for both online, and many say that the customer service of both companies is bad, and that AT&T's connection frequently acts up.
Out of these, which one would you recommend?

I have AT&T here. I had a technician come out the other day because I thought my connection was slow, and I was promised speeds faster than DSL. It turns out the fiber optices are sitting in a box, and have not been hooked up yet. Add to that, it would take some kind of special act of god to get that fiber optic cable installed to each house. I don't know when we will have it, but I am sure I will be long dead before our neighborhood is hooked up to fast speed internet.

(they took over from NPG Cable, who were awesome) and he's had no troubles with them so far. I've never had AT&T.
