(13,324 posts)I mean, I know there's some pretty grotesque material out there - which I avoid for reasons of both ethics and personal preference - but I don't see any need to get all high and mighty about this stuff. We're all human, we all (more or less) have a sex drive, so whatevs...

(27,677 posts)according to Encyclopedia Britannica....
erotica: literary or artistic works having an erotic theme; especially, books treating of sexual love in a sensuous or voluptuous manner. The word erotica typically applies to works in which the sexual element is regarded as part of the larger aesthetic aspect. It is usually distinguished from pornography, which can also have literary merit but which is usually understood to have sexual arousal as its main purpose.
And pornography can also be written as well:
pornography
noun
obscene writings, drawings, photographs, or the like, especially those having little or no artistic merit.
So we're back to what's considered obscene and/or contains artistic merit.

(41,986 posts)I'm hardly an expert but the actual porn I've seen as opposed to sex in a movie has always been a little sad. They play to the camera and do it badly so there's no sense of connection between people, just bodies. And for women that seldom works. We're relational by nature and not just voyeuristic.
I haven't seen much porn, but most of what I've seen lacks real passion and involves some rather uncomfortable looking poses.
And apparently foreplay is highly overrated.

(9,214 posts)I had to view some porn occasionally just to make sure they didn't come up with something new that I didn't know about yet.
Now that I am older and can't do half the things I used to be able to do, it makes no sense to learn something new.
I suppose I could try to find some senior porn but that just doesn't seem right.

REASON FOR ALERT:
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)
ALERTER'S COMMENTS:
Bringing a host disagreement to The Lounge, The Lounge SoP states "no drama."
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Jul 31, 2013, 09:33 PM, and the Jury voted 2-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Then maybe you should bring it up with the hosts, alerter. I don't see anything wrong with this particular post.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: A little teasing isn't drama.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: A passive/aggressive "some people" call-out. Hide.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I perceive no particular drama in the alerted reply.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(49,445 posts)I just revived a 250gb backup drive by ripping it out of it's case and plugging it directly into my computer. This, after my 80gb hard drive finally died (9years, 3 months of solid service). Now I've got lots more room!
Streaming... ha! I can barely stream YouTube videos... this computer is also over 9 years old!
Locut0s
(6,154 posts)Actually I'm a pack rat too. I have 4TB of drive space here. Actually only 2TB is visible since it's in a RAID 1 array for redundancy. And I was just forced to rip out a 1TB drive from a case, just like you, and plug it into my tower. Now I have more space, for a short while anyway. For me it's mostly downloaded TV series. But there was a time when porn would have been a not small portion (now I just steam )
krispos42
(49,445 posts)...I've heard of them. Never had one though.

(56,912 posts)Don't post "shock content" or porn.
Do not post or link to extreme images of violence, gore, bodily functions, pain, or human suffering for no purpose other than to shock and disgust. Do not post or link to pornography.
Locut0s
(6,154 posts)It's talking about porn. I wouldn't call this "shock content" as there are no images or anything about it that is meant to be shocking. There are no links to any content. Talking about porn isn't porn itself any more than talking about Edward Snowden leaking documents is the act of leaking documents yourself.

(56,912 posts)you asked a question I answered it.
Porn is ... mentioned in the ToS.
did I say anything about this thread being porn?
No.
Porn is ,,, on the internet.
Porn is ... the subject of your thread.
Porn cone is the same thing as hardtack, I think
