31. An accidental misunderstanding

A riff on the theme of <some random Everett personality> Walks into a Bar series of jokes, went sour.

3. As a kid...

I didn't really get how funny those things were.

Anyway, my favorite narrator/character voice was Sterling Holloway, who was the voice of Winnie The Pooh.

4. I knew who he was, didn't connect the two...

However I know what you're referring to, and it still was homophobic...clearly.

6. Can we discuss alerted threads?

The OP did not say 'Fairy Tale' it said 'fairy tail'.

Jury decision was correct.

9. Can we?

You can't fracture a tale by walking into a bar - you can fracture a tail.

That's all I meant and I was playing on Xipe's Everett reference with a Bullwinkle one.

I did nothing wrong because I know in my heart I wasn't trying to play off the word "fairy" in a homosexual manner. That didn't even occur to me.

I am sorry, however, that it hurt anyone. My sig line is there for a reason.

13. I knew what you meant

I loved "Fractured Fairy Tales" when I was a kid. I had to google to find out why your post would have been hidden. I had no idea he was gay.

10. And he was gay.

Making "fairy tail" just the kind of homophobic bilge juries should be hiding more often.

11. I didn't know that.

I am actually horrifed now.

I don;pt even know what else to say. I didn't mean it that way and I am sorry I wrote it. Just because I didn't mean it that way doesn't mean I shouldn't have taken a moment to consider that it could have been.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt here. Kind of like the guy at the Giants game who was so disgusted with their play he picked up something from a food cart and hurled it onto the field. It happened to be a banana. Which landed right next to Orioles outfielder Adam Jones. Who happens to be African American.

If I could apologize to Edward Everett Horton I would. He made my childhood happier and now I've gone and made someone else's life worse.

All I knew was his voice and that was gift enough for me.

I'm glad to know more about him now, and I'm glad to know about yet another gay human being who made this world so much better.

Last edited Thu Aug 29, 2013, 10:04 PM - Edit history (1)

I knew at the time that that was the name of the narrator. He was credited on screen if I recall correctly, and as a kid I thought his name was funny.

Edited to add: I just looked at your Wikipedia link. I didn't realize that he had done all of that other stuff. I only ever knew the name from Rocky and Bullwinkle.
