I've been the fortunate recipient of just that kind of loyalty and I could not love those dogs more.

When he met new people, he was too friendly by half.

Once my teen-aged brother brought one of his baseball friends over to hang out. After a while the two boys started sort of boxing one another and play-fighting.

Tiga didn't like that AT ALL and jumped up to bite the friend on the ass & started growling at him, doing his best to "protect" my brother from the big bully.

I had one like that. I was allowed to pick the baby up, my husband was allowed to pick the baby up, but no one else was allowed unless I gave my permission. Good dog, that one

I had a black lab when I was a kid. She used to play football with us, or 'kill the man with the ball'. She always knew to tackle the kid with the ball. We had to get her spayed and it was the early 70s. Lets just say they had to use way more stitches back then, than they do now. She couldn't come out to play that day because she was recovering. Well, she got out anyway. It was a good thing. There was an attack dog in our neighborhood. He was a big German Sheperd and he was owned by a police officer near by. They guy took really good care of that dog, but on this day he got out, and got right in the middle of our game. We all froze, knowing one of us was going to get bit really bad. Right at that moment a black streak with teeth bared came charging down the street and chased the sheperd away. My dog was a big hero that day, and I'll never forget that. Dogs rule!
