http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/patton-oswalt-how-would-you-kill-superman Gotta listen, it's when they finally sit down, get their coffee and start talking......please, get through it.........they're not real fond of Keith doing sports. But I kinda enjoy these "bits", have always thought Jerry Seinfeld IS a genius, love these coffee segments. "Comedians in cars getting coffee". He's a genius. REALLY. JMHOa kennedy
(29,658 posts)Comedians in cars getting coffee. http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/ I'm telling you, he's a genius. Not political like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Maher....but dang it... these are pretty funny.

(4,840 posts)It generalizes a bit but, basically, I think it's a regional thing that lends itself to comedy better for people raised in the tri-state area by parents and friends imbibed with certain cultural attitudes and ticks. People who have been spared the ignorance/lameness or whatever you want to call it of such parents and friends I imagine, on average, don't get Seinfeld. It appears more as a social "horror" than comedy to them which is probably more accurate. So you're probably better off if you don't "get it."
Plus Seinfeld is so hard to watch now that there is The Big Bang Theory.

(23,542 posts)sense like Jack Benny. They are the jerks, the egotistical awful people. I enjoy it.
But, comedy is subjective.

(62,414 posts)I do not see Big Bang Theory as very funny either.
Part of it is that it is essentially a one joke show: 'nerds is stupid facing real life'. It has been done so many times. And the one guy, Sheldon, is really kind of mean and self absorbed. I have been trying to watch it with my wife recently.
Part of it may be that anymore I am greatly bothered by commercials. When a show stops for 5 consecutive minutes of horseshit, my attention is long gone. My TV watching anymore is quite sporadic.

(62,414 posts)I still find the 3 stooges hilarious; Steven Wright; The early Roseanne and the early Tool Time; Ellen Degeneres is an absolute hoot.
Unfortunately I have been known to be laughing uproariously at some movie that is way overdone.
These are just examples. I often laugh at arrogant politicians who are pretending to believe their own lies such as a Boehner.
Does that give you an idea? Right now I am listening Stephanie Miller and I find her very funny.
Humor is quite, quite subjective. I tend to like understated humor. Probably my favorite comedians of all time were Bob Hope and Rodney Dangerfield. Really like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

(4,840 posts)is frighteningly accurate. Actually, it is a bit mild a portrayal The truth, in some cases, is horrifically worse.
I can understand why some would not find that funny. It's really the kind of interactions you run from.

(20,186 posts)I like "Comedians in cars...." too. I haven't watched all of them yet, but I haven't seen one I didn't like. Dave Letterman and Louis C.K. were hilarious.

(3,366 posts)Neither one was funny to me.
You have Seinfeld, with his scary huge teeth, dating all these gorgeous models, and acting smug and superior to everyone else. While Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, a beauty, cannot get a date. Then there's Kramer... I've never appreciated any obligatory super-wacky/super-stupid sit-com character. It was all so boring and unbelievable. And I don't like laugh tracks. George was the only redeeming part of that show, but not enough for me to put up with the star's dullness.
I LOVE Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry David though.

(2,815 posts)I think it's funny about the Delorean. I'm surprised that some of these coffee places let them film there, they can be kind of rude. The other side of the coin is the coffee shop in the Patton Oswalt episode which reminds me of an episode of of Marc Maron's show on IFC where he asks for ice in his coffee.
I think I have to go back and watch them all again. Especially the Ricky Gervais episode when he's scared to death as the passenger. He reminds me of me.

(32,083 posts)KO got his broadcasting start in sports. Ain't nobody who knows more about baseball than Keith. The only thing I don't like about it is that Dan Patrick isn't with him. His current show on ESPN is great! It's like the old "Countdown", only it's mostly about sports. But, there's still some politics and culture weaved into it. Check out his recent interview with Chris Kluwe on YouTube in that regard.

(49,990 posts)Carpool is an online show hosted by Robert Llewellyn (Red Dwarf, Scrapheap Challenge, Fully Charged), who gives a wide variety of passengers a lift in a hybrid or electric car and they talk. It's as simple as that. Previous guests include Stephen Fry, David Mitchell, Charlieissocoolike and Jim Jeffries.

Of course the second you post it the "I've never considered him funny" troop is going to come down on you for it as though anyone gives a shit that they think their interpretation of humor is the least bit relevant to what you find funny.
