(21,848 posts)May I ask what was the cause of death?
I have a cat who will turn 14 in about a month. He has diabetes and other health issues.
I know I will bawl buckets when his time finally comes. He's been like a child to me.

(13,324 posts)Bob, our seemingly healthy (if slightly overweight) 11-year-old Siamese, just flat-out dropped dead one day, most likely from a heart attack. Edna, the 16-year-old tabby we'd adopted in old age, certainly wasn't expected to outlive Bob, especially not with her thyroid/kidney issues, but she hung on for several months before declining and dying within a few days.
Believe me, I'm still sad about it.

(34,109 posts)It is always so hard. 13 years is a good life, I am sure the both of you made them very happy and loving. None of us can ask for more than that. Be easy with yourself. We just lost our Lab a just before Thanksgiving. It takes a while to get used to it. RIP Smokie.
