Saw 'Saving Mr. Banks'. Liked it.

It was a two-hankie flic, but I cry at weddings.

Interesting to learn the background of the making of "Mary Poppins".

I'm sure there was some 'Hollywooding' of the actual facts, but Disney seems to be admirable for his patience with a thoroughly uptight, impossible to deal with, unlikeable woman.

I hated Emma Thompson's character for most of the movie, so she did a good job with the roll.

In real life Disney was a dick and the woman had integrity and taste. Any surprises a Disney film would paint that old anti-semitic union busting asshat as a wise old man?

and I agree. It was a Disney film, and while some of the background material on the film's production was interesting, you can bet Walt Disney nor the production staff was nearly as gracious or patient as presented. It would have have been far more watchable and provocative had the real story been told. Disney produces fantasy, so what should you expect?

Look for a digitally restored Mary Poppins to be released this year.
