(8,646 posts)and we have had super weird weather this winter but I wouldn't mind it so much if Environment Canada could predict it with even a *smidgen* of accuracy. I don't expect them to be super accurate 3 or 4 days out, really I don't. But lately it's been ridiculous! My parents are gone on a trip and I'm in charge of their house, which means I have to shovel if it snows. It's been a super snowy winter so far, but since they've been gone we've had record breaking warm temps and no snow. I checked again at 10 pm tonight and saw that, yes, the trend is continuing. zero chances of snow for the next week or so. Yay. I checked at 11pm before I put the dogs out to see how cold it was and WTF do I see? It shows that it's snowing, with a 60% chance of flurries for tonight. Really? You looked outside and saw snow and though, shit, we'd better stick a 60% chance of flurries on that quick before anyone notices! WHAT in the everlivingfuck. BTW - it's not actually snowing where I am (10 min from the airport where they measure everything) but seriously. W-T-F. I expect a tiny bit of accuracy an hour or 2 before the fact TYVM meteorologists. Stop running your stupid models and take a look at the radar. Duh.

(4,465 posts)We just had a little snow flurry! Yesterday it was warm enough to wear shorts at the park, today snow flurries. It's cold today but not that cold, 44 or so. strange.

(30,947 posts)I don't mind the cold at all except when it breaks a pipes as it did when we had a low temperature of 6 degrees. I left all my faucets dripping, but I guess it was just too cold for the pipes to handle.

(4,465 posts)That was some serious cold though so I'm not surprised to hear that. Still sucks though. I hope everything turned out OK for you. I'm a little worried about the coming 16 degree low. My heater couldn't take the extreme temps and just shut off during it. I woke up to a 42 degree house the morning of that cold snap. I had to go up into the freezing attic and turn it back on. It's been fine since then...
anyway. Here's to hoping your pipes and my heater make it through tonight with no issues.
