(29,414 posts)But I posted the Polkaholix because they aren't strictly a polka band or only play "classic" polka. They combine rock, ska, reggae, metal, and polka to make a sound I truly adore!
And so, I have all of their albums now
One of my favorite cuts, even though I'm a vegetarian:

(23,340 posts)They do polka versions of Purple Haze and Satisfaction ..... and being from Texas, do all kinds of Mexican polka styles, and other Latin polka-related music.
They were the wedding band at David Byrne's wedding.

(29,414 posts)and like their music as well as that of the Austin Lounge Lizards. Similar thing going on only with bluegrass style. That cut you posted though sounded more to me like an almost fully traditional polka than the polka-influenced music of Polkaholix. If anyone in Brave Combo knows about them, they're probably fans, and vice versa

(29,414 posts)I had never heard the original (I don't listen to commercial radio) and thought this was new material by Polkaholix. I loved it, and even after trying to listen to the original just now (I got halfway through before going back to this one) I think these guys did a far better job of a cover than Ylvis did with the original song.
The video is enjoyable, too
