2. I think she has gotten some p.r. advice lately to broaden her appeal by going "softer"

Several months ago she was uncharacteristically kinder/gentler guesting with Katy COURIC. As for my "anti-male" barb, she has done the same (non-Liberal) thing as COULTER and especially Laura INGRAHAM, who would put dudes on the defensive with the "LAME" attack, trading on the "I dare you to pick on me" card. Last week she was on the defensive about racist SOUNDING (vague) tweets and when George STEPANOPOULIS (sp) did a pretend-serious interrogation, she said, "People are always mad at me for something --- are YOU mad at me right now?!1" When poor, nice? Josh GROBAN guested with her, she fixed that stare on him and suggested/asked whether he was Gay. "Liberal women" are a fan base for her? -- hmmm, I hadn't thought in those terms about her. I don't know, her style of attack is different to me from, say, Kathy GRIFFIN's, who pokes at Big targets (in absentia, as opposed to the puny humans in front of her)?

Edit: An "off balance" m.o. of skewering?

Edit: I detest Nic CAGE (and don't actually detest Chelsea), fwiw.

Celebrities often say things for shock value. She is no different. Some will like her, some won't.

5. I don't find her funny at all

Sarah Silverman and Amy Schumer slay me.

I don't care for Lisa Lampinelli either.

But I do love Janeane Garofalo, Kate Micucci, Kristin Schaal, Kathy Griffin, Tig Notaro, Margaret Cho, Ellen, Lily Tomlin, Sandra Bernhard, Paula Poundstone, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and probably others I am forgetting...

6. She's good for a laugh, if you understand from where the comedy is taken...

To me, it's a bit like Joan Rivers… predictably over-the-top at times when tearing apart (equally to both genders) for a laugh. So, the laugh's at the expense of whoever she's making fun of, and it can include her own self…

7. A coincidentally timely Gawker item about her slamming Piers MORGAN

Not to put myself in the roles of being a fan or defending Piers AT ALL. At least Chelsea is picking on an appropriate target here, but still being a jerk in public -- whoa, makes me feel like a jerk on the internet. I took the liberty of selecting the comments from Gawker readers whom I agreed with, whether they were sniping at her or at both of them. There are equal or more comments supporting her, longer dialog and a video inside the link. She's all over the circuit, book tour, "peddling jams and jellies," as Carol CHANNING said eons ago.

Chelsea Handler Tells Piers Morgan to Shove It on Live TV

.... CHELSEA: This is your show. You have to pay attention to the guests that you invited on your show.

PIERS: If they're interesting enough!

CHELSEA: Yeah, listen. It doesn't matter how interesting I am. You signed up for this job.

PIERS: Of course it does!

CHELSEA: Well, maybe that's why your job is coming to an end. ....

Lovely. Just lovely.

The segment also featured an unbleeped f-bomb from the host of Chelsea Lately. Apparently everyone at Morgan's cancelled show has given up in during its waning days. In my imagination, everyone off camera is wearing sweatpants and drinking whisky from Garfield coffee mugs. It's Fuck It! With Piers Morgan. Only on CNN.

**********SELECTED COMMENTS FROM GAWKER READERS:

He's a pompous, disrespectful blowhard who countenances spying and bullies guests. She a racist shit-stirrer who thinks she's advancing feminism by trolling and throwing other women she doesn't like under the bus, and then asking for dudebro points for being so "edgy" and "an equal opportunity offender". So I come away from this heartily dissatisfied, and wish they would both get off my television.

I was just about to say this. He is an ass, and she is really just the worst kind of bottom of the barrel, "edgy" comedian who isn't really funny.

Not sure who to root for here...

Bigoted, Bombastic Idiot SLAMS Transphobic, Bombastic Idiot

It's like a master class in trying to be edgy and mostly just coming off as a asshole - they should go on tour.
