(81,856 posts)For all the film-implication otherwise, duct-tape doesn't adhere well to skin or hair. The best bondage function for it is that it makes good binds because it adheres well to itself and is strong while flexible.

(34,136 posts)We've used duct tape a lot for bandaging horses' legs, but we have to be sure to not tape it to the hair. Usually we put a layer of Vet Wrap, a tape that does not have adhesive but that does stick to itself, on to hold the gauze or padding or whatever on, then duct tape over that.
The Vet Wrap conforms well to the layers and protects the hair while the duct tape is strong and slick enough that a horse can't bite it off plus it adds a bit of water proofing.
If you duct tape directly to the horse's hair, the hair will be pulled out by the roots and adhere pretty thoroughly to the duct tape glue. And if it's a situation where you have to re-wrap the horse's leg regularly and repeatedly, all the hair will be pulled off and the duct tape will pull the skin off. The horses really REALLY don't like this, so we try to avoid it and so do they, making our jobs very difficult.
For situations where you need to tape with duct tape but you want to reduce the adhesive ability of the tape, you can stick it to a fabric surface and pull it off - fibers from the fabric will stick to the tape so when it is applied to another surface it won't be as sticky. That can be used with a lot of various kinds of tape to keep them from damaging a surface.
I've made large bandages out of duct tape and gauze.
Sticks to the skin just fine. Trust me.

(20,176 posts)It sticks but not great. It stays in place but it doesn't adhere and is no worse than pulling a day old plastic band-aid.
I wouldn't have used it if it did adhere as d/s play isn't totally-safe to begin with and doubly with new partners and actual effective bondage. I mean my pain threshold is high obviously but we're not talking even wax-strip pain-and-adhesion here.
