I remember going up into the high sierra in California and camping in King's Canyon National Park in the mid 70s. It was many miles away from Los Angeles, where you can never really see much of the nighttime sky because of all the artificial lights. The entire sky was lit up with stars. It truly deserved the name "Milky Way".
