And if you do are you happy with the direction they have taken it?
Frankly if Don doesn't get back to being Don I'm going to freakin stop watching. It's like they neutered the guy..

(102,272 posts)I thought for sure he'd jump ship and go to another firm. That said, even though Don was out of control, the stipulations imposed were clearly punitive, rather than constructive. I can sort of relate (as I'm sure can many others) to the old "reorganization scheme" designed by management to "control" (neuter) those employees that someone or other construes as "threatening" to their own prospects. It is an ugly, but not uncommon side to the employment world and one that I will enjoy (hopefully) watching Don defeat.
It is uncomfortable seeing him in that position, though and Peggy is not coming off well at all.

(4,876 posts)Seems like Sterling is Don's last friend at the agency.
I also expected Don to tell them to fuck off last week. I don't think he realizes how much it will cost them to buy him out...
Here's hoping he gets his grit back...

(28,257 posts)As complex and well-executed as "Mad Men" is, I wouldn't look for---or appreciate---a Goody-Two-Shoes conclusion to the series. If you want a Manly Men ending, watch any episode of "NCIS." And come to think of it, avoid the movie "No Country For Old Men" as well.....

(4,876 posts)but that's what they are doing. Don Draper is an anti-hero and they are making him out to be a wuss...
And frankly your "manly man" insult is really third fucking grade. Can't we discuss the merits of this without resorting to being an asshole about it?
I agree, Mad Men is complex and well executed, so why take that and shit all over it by taking your main character from "manly man" to simpering wimp.
You want to compare it to the Sopranos? This would be like Tony Soprano going legit in the last episode.

(17,742 posts)well, rather, in addition to.
Ike Evans is a more likable Don Draper.
Anyone else seen it? It's a couple years old but well worth the time.

(5,604 posts)I thought the first 3 season were absolutely amazing. Season 4 was ok. Season 5 stank really bad, but I thought they were getting it back on track last year. In fact the way they wrapped up the season last year, with a few minor tweaks, it could have been the show's finale.
This year is tedious, and splitting it up over 2 years is insulting to the fans. I think the reasons why I've lost interest is that I enjoyed the show being set in the early sixties more, and I liked a lot of the characters, conflicts and plot lines from the first few years that they just tossed away.

(38,000 posts)I dig what's happening with his character. It's Peggy who is pissing me off this season.
