Please send Good Dog vibes. Tucker has surgery today.

The short version is that he has two tumors on his spleen, and they'll remove it if that can be done. If not they'll let him go. I've vowed not to post about anything but the Nigerian girls for 24 hours beginning at noon so this is a cruel tease I know, but I'll let everyone know ASAP. He's a good boy. I hope we have him a while longer.

Devon, my golden retriever, had surgery to remove a tumor that had grown on her adrenal gland. What made the surgery difficult was that the tumor was partially behind the gland. As if that was not enough, she had a blood clot that was moving toward her heart. The operation took over 3 hours. As I waited, I knew that it was a very real possibility that she would not survive the operation. In my heart, I just assumed that all would be well. The good news is that she did. The doctor showed me the blood clot. It was huge and cylindrical in shape. Turned out it was just nano-inches from her heart. Three months later, we had a follow up ultra sound and another tumor was found on her intestine. That was removed successfully; however, it is an aggressive form of cancer. Devon and I are meeting with the canine oncologist this Saturday to dicusss the next steps. Did I mention that Devon is 13 years old. I am wondering if I want to put her through anymore. She is doing fine right now and every day we have her is a precious gift.

Devon and I wish Tucker well and hope his surgery is as successful as Devon's.

I hope Devon (and Tucker) both have positive results. They already know they are loved.
