I've been the 1 in a couple of 6-1 jury decisions lately.

Just served where I voted to hide while EVERYBODY else voted to leave and on the jury before that, I had voted to leave while EVERYBODY else voted to hide.

Once in a great while, I'm the sole dissenting vote but two in a row?

I've seen some of my posts here get alerted for the craziest shit and get hidden, but that's just how the vibe of the site goes sometimes. I accept that. Grudgingly, but I repent.

I completely missed what the others saw.

Edit: But my single vote didn't affect the decision so that makes me feel a bit better!

Some people read the crazy talk alert and just eat it up. Juries are supposed to be for the betterment of DU as a community, not to sooth the ruffled feathers of a lone complainer with a chapped ass. I have never used the alert feature. I prefer to DISCUSS, not DISMISS. That's what the ignore and trash thread features are for anyway.

(at this point I might add just sayin' ) but that plus a true desire to vacation in Hawaii got me my last hidden post.

IMHO: Your hidden replies shouldn't have been hidden either.

One was on a thread about white privilege that the whole thread was out of control making that the reason to leave the alert.

because there's so much crap going back/forth. At least that's the way I've felt the last few times I did jury duty. It seems to have gotten worse lately.

After reading through all the back-and-forth, sometimes it's hard to tell who is "at fault". It's like kids on a playground at times with all the insults and denials.

And I agree that it's gotten worse lately. If the alert is on post #75 or #126, am I really expected to read through the whole thing???

I always bail on those.

the dilemma becomes do I hide this one response (which really achieves nothing) or do I let it stand so everybody can get an uninterrupted view. When you can't tell why one was alerted on and none of the others were, and they all violate guidelines.... THAT's when it would be nice to have a checkbox!
