(205,300 posts)I'm in New York snow country, but it usually sounds like their weather's even worse than mine. My cousin took a job in San Diego, then moved back to Colorado. I've never understood why...

We have some nice hikes in the area but all the riverbeds are just dusty, stony paths and have been for several years now.

(149,611 posts)I've visited friends there, and those parks are glorious, even in summer.
So many huge trees and flowers growing along the riverbanks... Wonderful!

(34,582 posts)and the system is absolutely wonderful all year round, autumn colors (and the chill in the air) just make it so much better. I haven't seen autumn since I moved to Texas in 92. I am thinking of hitting the Ozarks for a long weekend this fall, as an Ohio trip is just to pricey for me at this time.

(34,582 posts)Cleveland sometimes gets a bum rap, but they have a world class orchestra, a theater district second only to NYC, a great library system, and, of course, the Metroparks. I do miss it, and plan to retire back there. I am probably the only person who wants to flee north, instead of south, to retire.

(24,146 posts)it seems like a neat place all the way around.

(34,582 posts)a wide variety of ethnicities brings a wide variety of cuisine choices. One thing, which is unique to Cleveland, that I miss is Polish Boys.
